Saharun is a new rally

it has no ties to Paris, Dakar, Bamako or some kind of repeating finish. This is a rally which is held annually, starting in Europe and finishing in the intoxicating Sahara. The thoroughly planned daily stages provide an exciting route, varied terrain and driving challenge to drivers, riders and quad drivers.
   
   
The best choice

The Dakar exited the region; it is held more than 8,000 kms from the capital of Senegal. It has become a speed obsessed circus, by the way, and requires a budget very few can afford. The alternative tours miss the atmosphere of the race and the sense of a challenge. The Saharun, however, provides a solution to racers and adventurers alike. The rally offers an affordable race and the adventure of a lifetime.
   
A community experience



At the Saharun you have an opportunity to gain personal travel experiences, but if you are open to them, here you will be witness to a phenomenal community experience.

  • During the European stages you can be sure that it will be worthwhile to honk your horn at every petrol station as you will be encountering teams on a continuous basis.
  • At the sight of the sticker-adorned vehicles in Africa you can feel a sense of belonging to a community; as the distance grows from the start the sense of togetherness, the direct ties, grow.
  • Differences between teams disappear after the start: There is no celebrity, rich or poor, only participants who experience the same objective, the same adventure, to overcome obstacles and reach the goal line.
   
Would you come with a motorcycle or on a quad?

Start the season with us! While it’s cold in Europe, warm up in the hot winds of the Sahara! And to make it as much fun as possible, bring one of our friends and form a team, if need be, use two vehicles to reduce risk!

Who are the organisers?

The rally is managed by an experienced Hungarian team of organisers, the desert-hardened Polgár brothers, with the experience of 17 European and multiple jointly and individually organised African rallies on their resume. We selected a responsible route to respond to the terrorism threat and provide information to participants in a responsible manner, in cooperation with the authorities. We do not hide the risks from our participants!
   
What can you expect?

Head for Tunisia!!! A diverse terrain is waiting for you and you can have more than your fill of sand dunes, as this is the Saharun! We visit tourism destinations on a daily basis (e.g. the filming locations for Star Wars and the English Patient) as well as wonderful sites that are hidden from the general public (e.g. giant saltwater lake, palm tree glades and giant sand dunes)!
   
Cost Effective Rally
  • The route will require 10 days. The return trip home from Tunisia will not be long either.
  • There is no mandatory vaccination
  • No visa fee for EU habitants, and
  • The mandatory liability insurance for European vehicles is also valid!

Race, rules and result evaluations

The rules are simple and transparent. Important! On public roads compliance with traffic laws and regulations is mandatory! This is not the Cannonball Run! The GPS based route recording TC equipment and evaluation system assists the work of the referees and the integrity of the rally. Read the rally invitation for 2011 for additional information.
