Registration:
The registration is the statement issued by the team captain (the team's representative) during the entry period according to which he/she wishes to participate, along with his/her team, in the Saharun rally. The team captain need not be the pilot of the vehicle, but over the course of administrative matters he/she must act on behalf of the team. The team consists, at a minimum, of a vehicle and associated captain. The "team stables" consisting of multiple vehicles must register each vehicle together with its captain, at this time it is worth separating the team names by number (e.g. Great Team 1, 2, 3…). Registration shall become final by filling out the data sheet on the web site of www.saharun.org. At this time the team captain gets included on the mailing list of registrants. One e-mail address is required for the team captain of each team.
After completing the data sheet, the e-mail address that was provided receives an activation message; after following its instructions, there is an opportunity to open the Team Page. Here the team captain may access additional information or has to provide additional information over the course of rally preparation.
Attention! Registration is not enought to entitle you to participate in the rally.
Entry:
After activating the registration, the entry becomes final when the registered team pays the entry fee that is appropriate for the number of participants at the latest by the end of the registration period. The paid entry cannot be transferred to another year and may not be postponed; the entry fee may not be reclaimed for whatever reason. HOWEVER! Contrary to other, similar events, entries valid for Saharun - exclusively during the registration period - may be sold and/or transferred.
Only a full payment means an entry, thus if a team consists of three members and only the captain and the vehicle are paid for, this is deemed only a one person entry during the given period. In this case the expansion of the team may only take place on the basis of further payments appropriate for the time period. In the event of an incomplete (at least 1 vehicle + 1 captain), meaning a partial payment, the entry is not complete and the money is not refundable, but with a supplemental payment a valid entry may still be made. This depends on the entry period of the various categories, which concludes with the filling of the quotas. The Adventure and Race categories each have a quota of 50 teams! With the approval of African authorities, the respective quotas of the categories may be expanded, but the permission of licensing authorities is at their discretion.
The team is fixed for the paid number of participants, it cannot be divided, thus the entry of the vehicle cannot be separated from the members of the team. In the event of sale/assignment, a net payment of EUR 100 per vehicle and a further payment of net EUR 50, to cover administrative costs, is payable. In the event that the quota makes this possible, a valid entry in the Adventure Category may be modified into a Race Category entry via the payment of the prevailing price difference (entry upgrade), but it is not possible to honour a refund claim in the opposite direction.
Attention! Official entry is not enought to entitle one to participate in the rally.
Administration
By the end of the administrative period the teams must provide the personal and vehicle information required for the start; by the end of this period, the mandatory documents must be obtained. It is at this time that the mandatory expenses and fees arising outside of the entry procedure must be paid.
The Saharun Office provides a form to accompany each document to be filled out, or offers assistance in completing them, thus for incorrectly filled out, missing or inappropriate documents an administrative fee of EUR 30/document is payable.
It is during this period that the minimum simple test on the race rules must be passed; also, the mandatory vaccinations must be obtained.
Attention! Completing the administrative tasks is not enought to entitle one to participate in the rally.
Makeup
During the makeup period, documents that were left out or incomplete from the administrative period may be made up and the mandatory other fees can be paid after the fact. The makeup fee is EUR 200/transaction.
Attention! Making up for transaction gaps is not enought to entitle one to participate in the rally. .
Vehicle Receipt
With the successful conclusion of the administrative and make-up periods, the teams may participate in the Vehicle Receipt proceeding prior to the Start. Here the mandatory documentation will once again be verified, as well as the payment of the mandatory fees. Subsequently the vehicle safety inspections will take place and in the race category the technical vehicle receipt will occur. The team will only receive the identifiers (start number, armband) and pull into the Parc Ferme, which the vehicle cannot leave until the Start ceremony.
Attention! Only a successful vehicle receipt entitles one to participate in the rally.
Start
If everything went well during the preparation stage, the team may then pass through the Start Gate during a ceremony and participate at the Saharun rally.
The exact description of additional terms and rules is contained in the Saharun Rules. |
