The African-Hungarian Union (AHU) is an international NGDO (Non-governmental development organization). It is active in humanitarian aid and international development in Africa, awareness raising and advocacy in Hungary. AHU has been organizing development projects for marginalized social groups in 8 countries of Africa so far: Angola; Democratic Republic of Congo; Kenya; Madagascar; Mali; Morocco; Mauritania; Uganda.
AHU sent 15 volunteer Hungarian doctors so far to East-Congo, North Kivu Province in the frame of the Children of the War relief action. Hungarian doctors reached 15.000 people in Kiwanja IDP camp and remote villages in the region where access to health care is not ensured at all. AHU supports schools and social institutions in Angola, Mali and Madagascar.
AHU is the charity partner of the Budapest-Bamako rally. In January 2010, a truck of 20 tons of humanitarian aid has been delivered to 11 institutions in three countries in Morocco, Mauritania and Mali. Our volunteer medical mission and the programme of bore hole are launched in North-Mali and Bamako, further projects are under preparation in the region. It is
believed in that what happens in Africa in the global context of our days has a direct effect on our lives thus problems and successes of Africa must be our concern as well.
